6 Timeless Home Exterior Paint Colors That You Won’t Regret
A few months ago we published a blog about daring home paint colors, and now we think we should follow up with the flip side to that post. While daring exterior paint colors are often fun and bold, they usually only exist as trends and tend to go out of style as quickly as they came into style. This opens up the potential for a lot of regrets if you feel like you have to change your paint color to keep up with the trend. So with this post, we’ll be talking about six timeless exterior paint colors that we think would look great on your Calgary home. This one goes out to the traditionalists, or at least the ones who don’t want to regret the color choice they choose for the exterior of their home.
Buttery Yellow
This light yellow color is extremely inviting – plain and simple. It’s also a classic. If you want to give your home a welcoming curb appeal, then a light yellow would be a great choice. Typically this color looks best on wood, but you can also pull it off with a brick exterior. That’s just how flexible this color is!
Tan/Khaki
A light neutral like tan or khaki is never a bad choice when it comes to exterior painting. This color is easy to landscape around, as well as decorate around with trim, shutters, etc. Especially if you live in a more traditional neighborhood, this would undoubtedly be a paint color that would blend well with your surroundings.
Light Grey
In the same vein, a light grey is a neutral that will always be around. Light grey will give your home a clean and sleek appearance from the curb, especially if you pair it with white trim. Just like the rest of the colors, a light grey is also a great exterior paint color choice because it won’t clash with your roof color – that is, if you have traditional shingles.
Pale Pink
Like light yellow, pale pink is a fun way to spice up a neutral feel. As well as inviting, this color is playful, soft, and peaceful, and would suit a home that embodies those qualities nicely. We especially think that pale pink would look great in Calgary during the summer!
Brick Red
Red is probably a classic because of brick homes. Something about that brick red color is just homey, and many homeowners are painting their wood homes this red brick color. We can assure you that as long as the brick is still being used to construct homes, this color will be around. This red is strong and comforting, and pairs nicely with classic white shutters. Green really shows up well against brick red, which makes it ideal for homes with a lot of landscaping or ivy.
White
Where red exterior paint most likely comes from brick, white exterior paint most likely comes from the earliest whitewashed wooden homes. White looks good on homes for a number of reasons. First, it’s clean. The only thing to consider is just like a white car, a white house will show dirt when it does end up getting dirty. Second, it looks great year round. Whether your white home is blanketed in snow or basking on a sunny summer day, it’s going to look great!
